“I was slapped, chased out” — Asake opens up on embarrassing day he attended show in ‘pants’

The ‘Joha’ singer made this known in an interview on the Ginger Yourself podcast where he revealed how he was booed.
Asake related how, inspired by the late Fela, he stripped down to merely pants for a performance among scantily clad women.
The move backfired catastrophically, however, and he was ejected from the platform rather than achieving his purpose.
To quote him:
"I worked hard all the way through college before I became famous. I worked really hard for another two years before people started to like me.

I requested that they be somewhat half na**ed. You should know that one trait of Nigerians is that once people are stripped to their underwear, they forget about everything else going on and just concentrate on what's in front of them. However, these individuals [at the performance] are so obstinate o.
"Those females and I just walked in together just a moment ago. I have just entered in a most regal manner as a star boy. I was completely unaware of the origin of the initial clap that was heard. The response from the audience was a resounding "No, no, no." Everyone, up to 9,000 people's capacity, was clapping to show that they did not want it.
