A Liberian chef, Wonyean Aloycious Gaye, has embarked on a mission to beat Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci’s record of cooking for 100 hours.

The post read; “Famous Liberian chef Wonyean Aloycious Gaye says he’s ready to challenge the Nigerian lady, Hilda Baci. He has already gone 7 hours to catch up with Hilda. We can break her record”.

On Monday, Baci surpassed Indian chef Lata Tondon's 2019 record for the longest cooking period to set a new Guinness World Record.

The Akwa Ibom State native started a four-day "cook-a-thon" on May 11 at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State, and broke the previous record for the longest cooking marathon, which stood at 87 hours, 45 minutes.

But hours after the Nigerian chef finished her cooking marathon, Wonyean started his own.

Guinness World Records, however, stated on Monday that it will examine all the material before formally verifying the record.

AlexanderDGreat asked on Twitter why Hilda's new record hadn't been mentioned by Guinness World Records.

Why doesn't Guinness World Records feature or discuss Hilda's cook-a-ton? Cannot see anything on their (Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube) accounts," he tweeted.

In response, GWR said: "We are aware of this incredible record attempt, but before officially confirming a record, we need to review all the evidence."
