The Nigerian police have been ordered to take "the strongest possible action" against the policemen who are suspected of having sh*t and k*lled a lawyer Omobolanle Raheem, who is seven months pregnant, in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 27, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President condemned the "heinous and senseless" killing and expressed his astonishment and sadness over the incident.
He claimed that the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the ongoing danger posed by improper handling of weapons and serves as a wake-up call to law enforcement organizations, including the Police, to ensure the full implementation of reforms instituted by the administration on the subject of weapon handling as well as the protection of the public.
“In this hour of grief, the nation stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and the NBA. I assure you that justice will be done in this case,” Buhari said.
