D'banj is reportedly being held for an alleged N-Power fraud involving over N100 million.
Singer Oladapo Oyebanji, also known as D'banj, has been detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission.
He was apprehended and imprisoned on Tuesday after ICPC agents surrounded him and forced him to turn himself in at the organization's Abuja headquarters.
D'banj had been said to be evading summons for weeks by saying he was abroad for scheduled concerts each time he was asked to show up for interrogation on the fraud allegation.
He is accused of defrauding the Nigerian government of hundreds of millions of naira intended for the N-Power project, an empowerment initiative launched by the Nigerian government in 2016 to combat youth unemployment and advance social development.
Authorities assert that D'banj conspired with some government officials to introduce ghost beneficiaries into the payroll scheme.
