This morning, November 27, 2022, in the Osogbo City Stadium in Osogbo, Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sworn in as the city's next governor.
Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, the Chief Judge of Osun, swore in Adeleke as the state's new Governor and presented him with the oaths of office and allegiance.
Oaths were taken by Prince Kola Adegboyega Adewusi, the new Deputy Governor, and delivered by Justice Adepele-Ojo.
Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and former vice president, was sworn in alongside his wife Titi, his running mate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and the governors of Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, and Bayelsa States. Minority leader Ndidi Elumelu also attended the ceremony.
Moreover, traditional rulers such as Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, attended.
However, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has changed the state's name back to "Osun State" from "State of Osun," and the state's nickname has shifted from "The State of the Virtues" to "The State of the Living Spring."
In addition, beginning on July 7, 2022, Adeleke rescinded all of the appointments made by Adegboyega Oyetola, the governor before him.
In an unprecedented move, Governor Adeleke has ordered the closure of all government bank accounts.
Aside from that, he said that the Oyetola administration's decisions made after July 17 will be reviewed.
