Prior to Wednesday's UEFA Champions League encounter, Chelsea head coach Graham Potter described the contest against AC Milan as a formidable test for his team.

Chelsea take on AC Milan at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, with Potter seeking his first Champions League victory after a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg last month.

In their season opener under former manager Thomas Tuchel, the Blues fell to Dinamo Zagreb 1-0. They are an elite team. "It's a tremendous and exciting challenge for us," Potter stated in his Champions League pre-match press conference.

When asked what he learnt from his first Champions League match, he responded, "It's exactly what I expected. It's quite difficult if you lower your level. "

In recent weeks, the club has been linked to RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku and Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.

When asked about them, Potter responded, "I will only discuss Chelsea players and nobody else."

He also talked about Oliver Giroud's return to play against his old team and praised Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's reaction to a horrible home invasion in the summer.

In the Chelsea vs. Ac-Millan match, former Chelsea players Oliver Giroud, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Fikayo Tomori would return to Stamford Bridge, while Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang would face his former club.

It is a fight between two past UCL champions, as Chelsea, the champions of the 2020/21 season, play AC Milan, the seven-time champions who last won the UCL trophy in 2007.

The last time these two teams met was in the 1999/2000 UCL Group H match, which ended 1-1.

Potter also said that Mendy is back in training and will be able to play against AC Milan on Wednesday.

He then said that he wasn't in a hurry to decide who would be Chelsea's starting goalkeeper.

Potter stated, "I'm not in a hurry to identify someone as one or two or anything similar.

First, I want to assist Kepa to enjoy the game and perform at a very high level, as he did against Crystal Palace. Then I'd like to assist Edy in getting ready to play, which he has done so brilliantly thus far. "
