Confidence Amatobi is accused of severely assaulting his two-month-old son, Miracle, resulting in the amputation of his right hand.

The National Human Rights Commission and Nigeria Association of Women Journalists disclosed this information.

The Imo State chapter of the two organizations has consequently demanded that Amatobi be immediately arrested and prosecuted for the alleged offense by the Nigeria Police Force.

According to reports, trouble began when Amatobi, 31, claimed that Miracle would not let him sleep.

Then, he used a plastic rage to beat him unconscious, breaking his right hand in the process.

The doctors at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, Imo State, were unable to preserve the hand.

Consequently, it was amputated.

Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, the chairperson of the Imo State branch of NAWOJ, told reporters that Amatobi, a native of Amurie in Isu Local Government Area, should be prosecuted for the crime.

Nnaji, speaking on the premises of the FMC in Owerri, expressed surprise that a parent could be so harsh to his son.

She stated, "The culprit, Mr. Confidence Amatobi, from Amurie in Isu LGA, used a plastic hanger on the infant just because the 20-year-old mother left to relieve herself while the infant was wailing."

"When he observed that the baby's hand was fractured and swollen, he tied it with wood and elastic bands.

He locked up the mother and child to prevent her from communicating with neighbors or seeking assistance.

"He also stole her cell phone.

"After two days, she escaped and sought assistance from her neighbors.

"The suspect was apprehended by a vigilante, but he evaded capture.

"By the time assistance arrived, the baby's hand was already rotting.

The only alternative was to amputate baby Miracle's right hand at the shoulder.
